Being Healthy is Not That Hard

In 8 Habits Of Insanely Fit People on Huffington Post the author goes directly into the interesting facts of healthy or fit people. It emphasizes how a few quick habits can be implemented into your life to have a better lifestyle. The author gets advice from not only celebrities but everyday people. Many people feel that it is hard to relate to celebrities or athletes because of their access to gyms or trainers. On top of that they have the money to get healthy nutrient rich food and the time to put physical activity into their everyday lifestyle. This way it better appeals to the general public who might not have the same time or resources as there world class athletes or their trainers. Each person was asked what was one significant thing they do to live strong healthy lifestyles. Many of these things were very important but at the same time very obvious. For example eating breakfast every morning or find some one to Workout with or having a cheat every once in a while. This are all things we know are important to being healthy. In fact being healthy in general is something everyone can do and everyone knows what leads to being healthy. If so why is it that so many people around the world are struggling with their bodies. I know personally for me it is the lifestyle, especially living in America. There are fast food places on almost every corner. When we are in a rush proper food is not usually a available. The quickest thing to do is go to In-N-Out and be out of there in two minutes with a full course meal in our hands. Or maybe it is the advertisements. How often do we see advertisements for fruits or vegetables. When was the last time you saw a commercial that was two minutes long on why exercising is important and eat right. The fact of the matter is that being fit is not difficult at all. It is just our natural instinct to indulge in fattening I satisfying food. Our problem of being unhealthy is innate. We are bor into the unfit ways of life. If we want to change we need to start prioritizing and taking the most obvious of things and implementing them into our everyday life. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/07/30/good-fitness-habits_n_3646154.html?utm_hp_ref=mostpopular#slide=2330484

Peace in the Middle East

A topic brought up by not only Palestinians and Israeli's but peacemakers around the world alike. In an effort to try and find some common ground between. Both people President Obama held a peace talk. The article starts off by what exactly took place at the meeting, who was there, and what they were trying to accomplish. Many important people were there such as Justice Minister Tzipi Livni and US ambassador to Israel, Martin Indyk. Compromises on how to make peace were discussed and although both parties wanted to come to some sort of resolution to hopefully end the fighting and stop the border disputes there was still some disagreement. Despite the difficulties of finding some common ground the conferences will continue and efforts will still be made until some sort of compromise is created and both parties are somewhat happy. The article is short and concise. It goes straight to the point about what was the reason for the meeting, who was there, and what was discussed. The author, John Kerry, goes directly into what happened as a result of the conference. Kerry states the important facts such as the small disputes between parties and the agreement of continuing these peace talks. Although he was straight to the point he probably should have added a little more information such as what exactly did both parties feel. Maybe some of the thoughts from both parties would have better emphasized his claim that there was confrontation. Despite his lack in evidence he wrote a well structures article. It was a quick article that was just trying to explain what took place and he did a good job of doing so in a well organized article. http://m.bbc.co.uk/news/world-middle-east-23505954

College: Fantasy or Reality

Shahien Nasiripour starts off his article by saying what the government plans on doing about the student loan crisis and how much it will cost students. He brief in what actually took place on Wednesday when Senate approved the new federal student loan program. He enhances the article by adding comments from various senators, all of which said that college should be made more accessible to students rather than make it more expensive. On top if that he adds statistics at how much of a profit will the new program generate and how much will it cost students and their families. He emphasizes the importance of shearer education by adding statements from senators who fell this will only make the college process more difficult. I can relate to this struggle since my brother will be starting college in the fall. Like almost every family in America we had to get financial aid and take out loans. Even then that was not enough. Why is it that college is becoming more of a fantasy rather than a reality financially? Everyone should enjoy college and that process of finding out who you are and continuing that hour ey. More bills being passed or programs out into place will only cause tuition to rise and the likely hood to college fall. The raising of tuition prices and my family's own personal experience makes me wonder if I will have the opportunity to go to college without having to constantly worrying about how will I pay for my school or when will I lay it off? Rather than make a new system that will only cause prices to go up, the Senate should promotes new bills that will decrease the price if college and make it a reality to all student regardless if their financial background. http://m.huffpost.com/us/entry/3648747/

Our Generation's consequences

Everyone has heard about the global warming problem and about rising sea levels. We have all been made aware of temperatures rising and ice caps melting. But how much worse is this problem getting. Well for coastal cities, including us, much worse. "Sea levels are now set to rise anywhere from around 8 inches to 7 feet within 100 years, and around 5 yards to 10 yards within 2,000 years."  "All coastal cities there, plus the coasts around NYC and Boston, will be submerged enough, within 2,000 years, so that, not only will they be deeply flooded, but even minor coastal storms will make them uninhabitable for anyone who might otherwise still be living there."  What will happen to future generations. Will we let the careless, harmful mistakes of our time effect the world future generations will live on?

This problem of global warming needs to be fixed but how. Everyone needs to take action. Families businesses, schools, everyone. My family and I have personally taken action by recycling all our bottles, use energy efficient light bulbs, reduce our water use. Although we might not be able to completely undo the messes from the past we can still put the effects on hold as much as we can to help save the environment. It is our job to protect this earth? It needs to be handed down in good condition that is suitable for everyone to live in. Recycling might not be able to completely stop the problem of rising sea levels but it can stop the consequences of our generations for just a little but longer.

False Targets

Many blacks feel that they are constantly targeted and victims of false accusations due to their background. They think they will always be framed and many feel that they are not safe in all situations.  There is more to these false accusations than racial profiling. It is also what the media portrays.

The media is forced to present cases in a certain way or say and do certain things which are often times false or else it is bad business. So why is it that blacks feel that they are constantly targeted? Is it because of the history of violence towards them? What is so special about being a victim in a white on black crime rather then any other race on black crime?

First off its the media. They give out certain information saying that blacks are targeted because they are a minority but in reality they must say these things and make people feel this way in order to get they ratings they desire. After constantly being told they will always be a victim they start to believe it. Second many minorities have a trigger inside them that goes off whenever they are attacked. They start to think things such as "Oh it's because I am black or Mexican" or any other minority. There is more to crimes than racial profiling.

This idea needs to stop. People need to stop looking at themselves like they are the victim in every situation. Now do not get me wrong. There are still some unfortunate situations where some might be attacked because they are a minority. But that still does not give people an excuse to victimize themselves. Many people have this mindset mostly because of the media. The media likes to make them feel like they will be a victim and that they are not safe. This needs to change. Not only do we need to change the honesty of the media but also change our mindset a that we will always be victims because of our race or background.

Abortion

Once again the topic of abortion has been brought up. It has been made illegal after 20 weeks of pregnancy and both the democrat and republican parties constantly dispute over the age of the fetus. Democrats say that this is just another part of the "war for women" for getting equal right like lay for example. The constant arguments of abortion are more than just giving women equal rights. It is not just about protecting the rights of the mother to choose whether or not she wants to give birth but to protect the rights of a child.

Protecting children is an innate quality  instilled in most of us and is one reason why many believe abortion should be banned. We deprive an innocent child of his or her rights to live freely. Also if abortion were to become illegal completely we would strip the mother of her rights as well. She no longer has the option to decide to go with the pregnancy. Many expectant mothers cannot physically handle giving birth. And unfortunately there are many more who have become pregnant unwillingly and making abortion illegal would force them to give birth. Abortion should be legal to some extent. It can only take place after a certain amount of weeks and only be allowed in certain circumstances. Abortion is constantly disputed between many parties and no matter the decision there will always be controversy but the choice to abort the baby or continue the process if one that should be decided by the mother.

I Want a Lawyer

In America, when we are to appear in court we are allowed to have lawyers present for legal advice and to help defend us. In Kenya the accused must go to court alone with no one to assist them or back up their evidence. The prisoners at Shimo La Tewa maximum security prison in Mombasa are taking a stand and learning law to help defend themselves in court.

Douglas Owiya, a prisoner himself, was trained in law with other inmates and has created more than 3,000 successful appeals. They were able to do so by finding faults in the system. They expose poorly done investigative work by the police and unskilled rulings by magistrates. Some people even requested inmates instead of actual lawyers.  These newly trained lawyers want to help their fellow inmates get out and get back on their feet. They want to change the method.

This is a start to a big change in the Kenyan court system. Although it is a small step, it is still a beginning to a better justice system. The problem of unfair court rulings and the lack of a lawyer needs to be fixed by more inmates being taught law and more lawyers being allowed present during trials. Not only can inmates be taught law but the people of Kenya.  Action need to be taken towards authority for unjust punishments and accusations. Many reforms need to be put in place to improve Kenya's court system. Althought it will be a long process, they are slowly getting there one step at a time

ObamaCare

Obama Care was put into act in 2010 and only has until January 1st for its insurance expansion. Although a great attempt to improve the health care system, it will not necessarily improve America's health. Life expectancy has increased, but death due to poor health has increased as well to 45% in 2010. Americans are living longer, but they are living longer with diseases. Things such as COPD, obesity, and drug disorder have all risen up on the chart of top reasons for death. The top reason for disease is a bad diet. Americans have a lower life expectancy than those in other countries. There is more to the problem than the price of health care and it will take more than a single bill to fix this problem. The question is what else has caused this pandemic and how can we fix it.

There is more to the problem than the affordability of health care It is also about improving things such as diet and exercise. Money will not buy anyone a health lifestyle. America's pandemic on health needs a bigger solution than making medical attention more accessible. It will take effort from everyone. Changes need to be made: eating more fruits and veggies, taking in less carbohydrates and sodium, exercising more. Money is inconsequential to the reform of America's eating habits. It will take hard work from everyone to have temperance towards unhealthy foods. Everyone will have to get up and get active. Ones health is not something that should be taken lightly. There needs to be more of a serious attempt at fixing this problem.

Trayvon Martin

On February 26, 2012, 17-year-old Trayvon Martin was shot and killed by George Zimmerman. Up until this moment there has been non stop commotion about whether or not the defendant is guilty. Many factors such as the racial tension and the character of both Martin and Zimmerman play a key role in the final verdict. On July 7, 2013 the courtroom gathered in Sanford, Florida to make the final desicion. It all came down to who was really crying for help on that night. Who did start the fight? Did the fact that Trayvon Martin had weed in his system effect his ability to be violent. After many were called to the witness stand to identify the voice crying for help in the background of the 911 call made that night, the jury had to make a desicion. Was the incident self-defense or murder? Families of both the Martin and Zimmerman claim that is was
